Wandsworth's Christmas markets run with its switch-ons: Tooting's church yard, Southfields and Battersea High Street. 2026 dates are due in November.

Wandsworth does not have one big Christmas market. It has a string of small ones, most of them built around a town centre’s lights switch-on, plus a designer-maker market at the Royal College of Art in Battersea. None of them has a 2026 date yet. The council publishes its borough-wide Christmas events list in November (the 2025 list was still being updated on 1 December), and this page will carry the 2026 dates as soon as they appear.

What follows is last year’s programme, from the council’s own Christmas events 2025 page, so you know what to expect and roughly when. These are 2025 dates. Do not diarise them for 2026.

The 2025 Christmas markets, in date order

  • Battersea High Street, Saturday 15 November 2025, 12 noon to 4pm. A “mini Christmas market” with the lights switched on at 3.45pm.
  • Southfields, Wednesday 3 December 2025, market stalls from 3pm to 6.30pm, local schools singing on stage at 4.30pm, lights on at 5pm.
  • Tooting, Thursday 4 December 2025, 4pm to 8pm. An outdoor Christmas market in the church grounds on Church Lane, with school performances, live music and the Christmas tree lights switched on at 4.30pm. This is the longest of the switch-on markets.
  • RCASU indoor market, Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 December 2025, 1pm to 8pm, at the RCA Hangar, Studio Building, Howie Street, SW11 4AS. Run by the Royal College of Art Students’ Union since 2012, it sells ceramics, jewellery, print, zines, illustration and textiles made by RCA artists and designers.

Tooting: the one to plan around

The Tooting market is held in the yard of St Nicholas Church, Church Lane, SW17 9PP, and at four hours it was the longest of the council’s switch-on markets last year, with the tree lights switched on half an hour in. St Nicholas has no 2026 listing on its A Church Near You page yet.

Church Lane is a residential street off Mitcham Road with no event parking. Tooting Broadway is the nearest Tube station, and buses on Mitcham Road stop close by.

Battersea Power Station: Salad Days has moved

Salad Days, the independent makers’ market, ran its Christmas market at Battersea Power Station over three weekends in 2025: 15 to 16 November, 6 to 7 December and 13 to 14 December, with 30 makers a day, according to the power station’s 2025 Christmas announcement (published 21 October 2025).

It is not coming back to Battersea this year, on its current listings. Salad Days’ own market dates page lists three 2026 Christmas markets, none in the borough:

  • 24 and 25 October, Corner Corner, Canada Water, SE16 7LL, 11am to 4pm
  • 7 and 8 November, The Ministry, London Bridge, SE1 1DN, 11am to 4pm, over-18s only
  • 5 and 6 December, Corner Corner, Canada Water, 11am to 4pm

The power station has not announced its 2026 Christmas programme. Last year’s came on 21 October, so expect it in the second half of this month, and it may include other markets. The ice rink there is confirmed from 6 November: see Battersea Power Station ice rink and Battersea Power Station at Christmas.

What is confirmed for 2026

No Wandsworth Christmas market has published a 2026 date as of 6 October. The nearest confirmed festive events are the switch-ons in Putney and on Northcote Road, both on Friday 27 November, set by their business improvement districts rather than the council. Neither listing mentions a market. Full details are on our Wandsworth Christmas lights switch-on page.

If the council repeats last year’s pattern, expect Battersea High Street’s market in mid November, and Southfields and Tooting in the first week of December.

Getting there

All of these are on high streets or side roads with controlled parking and nothing laid on for visitors, and the switch-on markets fall on weekday teatimes when the roads are already busy. Check parking in Wandsworth for town centre tariffs and the short-stay zones that catch visitors out, and Wandsworth roadworks and travel for current closures.

When we will update this

We check the council’s town centre pages and the power station’s Christmas page weekly. As soon as a 2026 market date is published, it goes at the top of this page. If you run a Christmas market in the borough and want it listed, email hello@wandsworthnews.co.uk with the date, times and a link to your own listing.
